Congratulations President-elect Obama!
Woohoo!!!
And let me just say that I’m glad I’m not posting my alternate headline, which would have been something more like:
Congratulations Fetal Position, in which I will be curled for yet another 4 years!
I’m sure you’ll agree, that just doesn’t have the same ring to it.
If you were rooting for the Mavericks, believe me, I feel your pain. I remember what it was like in 2004 and 2000 when my team lost. If you’re like I was then, you’re likely feeling very frustrated, down, depressed, and wondering, “Holy crap, do I actually live in the same country as the people who just won??”
You do, I promise. It just feels weird right now. But we all live in the “Real America.” We’re all in the “pro America parts” of America. We all eat tons of Lucky Charms and Pop Tarts. Or maybe just I do that last part. But the rest of it is totally universal, swear.
The point is, don’t despair, Repubs of the world. You guys will be back.
And now W. can go back to clearing brush in Crawford. If ya know what I mean. (Oh wait. No, that wasn’t a euphemism. Just a sentence. Dang, I got to keep those things straight.)
Ok, the politickin’ is over ’round these parts. See you tomorrow, my disciples, for some more manslating!

You never cease to amaze me, Jeff. I love how you wrote this post to the “Mavericks.” Good one.
My kid keeps asking me when I’ll stop crying…. wow, it’s simply overwhelming in such a good way.

How’d you know what I was thinking, Jeff? I thought maybe I was living in a country full of alien beings.
Not only do I not understand men, but now I don’t understand some of my own gender! What the heck is going on here?!? Seriously, this Maverick-loving Texan will still be eating lots of Lucky Charms and Pop Tarts, just like the rest of America. Grateful to live in a country where we can voice our opinions about our government!

People around the world are rejoicing today. When’s the last time that was true because of the election of an American President?
Our family, our Tribe, is suffused w/ joy this day. We feel hope…and that is no small thing.
