    Welcome to 2009, Manslatees!

Ok, so I’m a day late. If it’s any consolation, I’m only about $.80 short, so in the long run, everybody makes out on this thing. If ya know what I mean.

(MANSLATOR’S NOTE: If you DO know what I mean, please explain it to me. I’d really love to know.)

I miss you guys! Stuff’s been moving along with publicity events for the new book. All kinds of crazy radio spots coming up in the next couple of weeks/months, plus who knows what else they’ve got cooked up for the Mac? Certainly not me!

    NEW POSTING SCHEDULE FOR 2009

As a result of my, you know, “life” such as it is, combined with the overwhelming number of folks that write in with their questions, starting on Monday I will be trying out a new Manslations Schedule. Here are the details.

    MONDAY/WEDNESDAY/FRIDAY ONLY

Whaaa? What the hell are you thinking, Jeff Mac? You have so many questions that you plan to…answer FEWER of them? How in the crap is that supposed to work?

Well, the good news is that there’s good news and bad news. Unfortunately, that’s also the bad news. (Again, anybody knowing what that means, drop me a line.)

The bad news is that, yes, of course I won’t be answering absolutely ALL questions. But that’s already true, folks. Three days a week, five days a week — doesn’t matter when I’m receiving more than five QUESTIONS a week. That’s math, everybody. I read about math one time in high school. I think it must have been in Social Studies class.

The GOOD NEWS, is that if I DO select your question, you likely won’t have to wait nearly as long for a response as you have been. If I’m picking and choosing, I can pick more recent ones, instead of letting the backlog just get loggier and more back-y, day by day.

HOW YA GONNA PICK ‘EM, EINSTEIN?

Ok, ok, there’s no need to get sarcastic.

So, if I’m going to be picking and choosing which questions to answer, how’m I going to do it? What are my criteria? Well, I’ve given this a lot of thought. Here’s what I’ve come up with. I will pick questions that…

    • …I think will be fun, funny and/or useful.
    • …I’m pretty sure I haven’t answered before, or
    • …I feel like answering.

Is it a perfect system? Sure. Of course it is. But I don’t want to sit here and brag. I just want to get back to writing these things.

Happy New Year, Manslatees! I’ll see you on Monday for more hot-t-t manslations-on-manslations action!

Sounds like a great system. I’ll just re-read your book on the days that start with T.

    Happy New Year Mac!

Glad to hear about the publicity tour, so no worries about the daily posting. I’ve always admired you being able to do that as much as you have, so see you M, W and F!

I can totally relate to feeling overwhelmed and your starting the new posting schedule is a wonderful idea–being overwhelmed with work, etc., almost caused the demise of my relationship!? But on a brighter note: I’ve been a faithful reader and you’ve answered several of mine, so I wanted to thank you by saying that my new engagement may not have happened if it were not for all of your help and your site!! That’s right–Rob and I got engaged over New Year’s and my little dream since I was 13 years-old (we’ve known each other since middle school) finally happened! I was so surprised but am SO happy!! And I want to thank YOU, Jeff Mac! So if you & Mrs. Mac can make it to Central Florida for the wedding, let me know :) Thanks again!
